Hunting Methods

Hartland employs a number of strategies to help you have a successful hunt. These include: spot and stalk, tree stands, tower blinds and ground blinds. Travel on ranch is by walking or quad or 4x4 vehicle.

Hartland Lodge & Hunt Property

Hartland's beautiful new lodge treats you to a breathtaking view of both the Big Valley in the Blue Hills and a spectacular panoramic view of the Canadian Plains.

To ensure a quality hunt, Hartland usually books approximately 4-5 hunters per group, larger groups can be arranged for the value hunt. The lodge can accommodate ten hunters/guests at a time in private or semi–private rooms.

Since our lodge is located only one hour from the airport, hunters usually arrive in the early afternoon with time to sight in your gun/bow and also get in an extra late afternoon and evening hunt. Clients who must take a very early return flight, will be taken to a hotel(of their choice) in Regina the evening before their flight departs. Costs of the hotel are the responsibility of the client.

From the deck of the lodge you can hear the spine tingling sound of bugling bulls and the rattling antlers of fighting bucks. On clear nights you may be lucky to be treated to the unforgettable beauty of the dance of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

If time permits after your hunt you may wish to take other local activities; these may include: pre-arranged migratory game bird hunts, taking in tourist attractions (Casino, Spa, and much more) in Moose Jaw (25min) from Hartland's lodge ... OR you may wish to simply relax and enjoy a quiet evening in front of Hartland's fireplace. Enjoy the flickering flames, the crackling logs as you watch the game or read a favourite book.

Physical Demands

Our hunts can be tailored for the physically fit as well as those with handicaps.

Judging/Scoring Trophy Animals

(for gold and platinum hunts only)

Accurately and quickly determining the score of a whitetail or elk trophy (by either guide or client) is very challenging given factors such as tree cover, distance and animal movement. At Hartland Your guide will ensure that you are satisfied with the trophy animals’ size and price before a shot is taken. Although your guide will advise you as to the trophy’s class , ultimately it is the client’s decision to take a particular animal. If the client has taken the advice of the guide and harvests a trophy larger than was contracted for , no upgrade fees will be charged. All measurements (SCI) will be made by Hartlands’ qualified SCI Master Measurer.

Important information when entering Canada

The hunter is strongly advised to be aware that both DUIs and misdemeanours may prevent a hunter from entering Canada until such matters are resolved.

Please ensure you have a valid up-to-date passport.
